HYDROSTATIC TESTING

Hydrostatic testing is an essential safety procedure used to verify pressure vessels and other compressed gas containers remain safe and dependable. In this test, the cylinder is filled with water and subjected to a pressure higher than its normal operating limit. The test is performed to verify the pressure vessel’s strength, detect leaks, and ensure it can safely withstand service conditions without failure.

VISUAL

Both internal and external inspections of pressure vessels are required during the requalification process. Qualified technicians perform visual cylinder inspections utilizing special illuminated probes. Specifically, these inspections are examining cylinders to internal contamination, rust, cracks, dents, or unusual conditions. Some specifications of cylinders require only the visual inspection and can be returned to service upon successful passing the inspection criteria.
